Taiwan-based Standard Foods has switched to the Nutanix Cloud Platform to boost the quality of its operations, advance its R&D capabilities, and improve its information security.

Using Nutanix Move, the company relocated data across 30 servers to a modern datacentre with the Nutanix Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) technology as its foundation. In the next stage, Standard Foods plans to migrate key applications, including those used for business process management and knowledge management. It will also make adjustments to its virtual SAP application-hosted content and upgrade its cybersecurity software.

With the implementation of Nutanix technology, Standard Foods has gained the ability to deploy most new applications in one day instead of four, making its R&D and product development cycle far more efficient. In addition, the Nutanix technology allows Standard Foods’ information technology personnel to manage hardware via a single interface, improving operational efficiency and reducing the risk of system failure.

“The three-tier architecture that Standard Foods had built its operations on had its limitations,” said Li Jun Ming Lee, director of information Technology Division at Standard Foods.

“Adopting Nutanix HCI has given our developers the dexterity they need to respond to changing requirements and stay on top of data and security.”

With Nutanix HCI, Standard Foods has also been able to equip itself with cloud-based data analytics tools to identify new business opportunities.

The company plans to further digitize and is currently developing an AI chatbot tool to elevate its customer service to a new level.

Enhanced security

As the manufacturing sector comes to rely more heavily on internet connectivity, it becomes more exposed to bigger security risks.

The security capabilities of Nutanix Flow allow for Standard Foods to configure next-generation firewalls, supporting turnkey and easier network security management for critical applications and data.

Standard Foods can also leverage the Nutanix Flow features to strengthen endpoint monitoring with the help of their additional End Point Detection and Response (EDR) system.

“It has been highly rewarding to help Standard Foods upgrade its datacentre and information security protection program,” said Daniel Chang, Nutanix’s managing director for Greater China.

“Operating in a hybrid multicloud environment should open new opportunities for the company and give it the foundation to accelerate its digital transformation program.”

Standard Foods operates four established brands in Taiwan, including Quaker, FreshDelight, Great Day, and TDHB. During its nearly 36 years in the market, it has launched more than 600 nutritional and health products and obtained 34 National Health Food Certifications.
