CISOs in Asia are increasingly focused on fortifying their organisations against data loss and downtime. With the rapid evolution of technology and the growing threat landscape, the need for robust disaster recovery (DR) solutions is more pressing than ever. Veeam Software's recent innovations, particularly in data resilience and orchestration for Microsoft Hyper-V, emerge as key areas of interest.

Veeam's latest update to its Data Platform introduces a powerful orchestration tool designed to simplify and automate disaster recovery processes, providing organisations with the agility needed to respond to unexpected outages. This enhancement not only supports Hyper-V but also facilitates data portability across different hypervisors, such as VMware vSphere. For CISOs, this means greater flexibility in managing their IT environments, allowing for seamless transitions and mitigated risks associated with vendor lock-in.

John Jester, chief revenue officer at Veeam, emphasises the importance of having a reliable recovery process in place: “Our mission is to deliver data resilience to ensure every customer has their data when and where they need it. Data will inevitably be compromised – whether by threat actors or human error – so having a rapid and confident recovery process in place is crucial.” This sentiment resonates deeply in the context of Asia’s dynamic business landscape, where organisations must be prepared for a multitude of threats.

The enhanced orchestration capabilities allow for automated disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution. This means that organisations can create and manage disaster recovery plans more efficiently, ensuring that they can restore operations quickly when faced with disruptions. The integration of enhanced cyber resilience features, including malware scanning and proactive threat detection, further strengthens the security posture, making recovery processes not only faster but also more secure.

CISOs must also consider the implications of seamless data portability. Veeam's solutions enable organisations to migrate data to new hypervisors or cloud environments without the need to switch backup vendors. This flexibility reduces the complexities often associated with migration, allowing for a smoother transition while safeguarding critical data.

Furthermore, the automation of migration processes significantly reduces the time and costs associated with these transitions. With structured and documented plans, organisations can ensure governance and compliance, essential factors in today’s regulatory environment.

In 2025, CISOs in Asia will find that innovations in data resilience and disaster recovery are not just beneficial but essential. With Veeam's advancements in orchestration for Hyper-V, organisations can navigate the complexities of modern IT environments with confidence, ensuring that they remain resilient in the face of challenges. The ability to adapt and recover swiftly is no longer a luxury; it is a necessity for sustained business success.
