CyberArk has unveiled its CyberArk Secure AI Agents Solution, aimed at providing robust identity-first security for the rapidly expanding landscape of autonomous AI agents. As these agents increasingly operate independently, organisations face new identity-centric risks that require comprehensive security measures.

The emergence of AI agents—capable of autonomously communicating, accessing sensitive information, and modifying their behaviours—presents a complex challenge.

According to Gartner, “By 2028, 25% of enterprise breaches will be traced back to AI agent abuse, from both external and malicious internal actors.” This underscores the necessity for organisations to secure the privileged access and lifecycle management of these agents effectively.

Matt Cohen

Matt Cohen, CEO of CyberArk, emphasised the urgency of this issue: “When millions of autonomous, adaptable, and interactive AI agents gain privileged access to resources and services, organisations must not find themselves in a situation where security has lagged innovation. Relying solely on basic identity and access management controls will leave organisations vulnerable to breaches they won't see coming.”

The CyberArk Secure AI Agents Solution is designed to treat each AI agent as a privileged identity, integrating intelligent privilege controls within the CyberArk Identity Security Platform. This approach enables continuous oversight and adaptive control, facilitating secure access management and enforcing the principle of least privilege. Key features include:

  • Discovery and observability: Providing insights into known and shadow agents across various applications and infrastructures.
  • Privilege control: Managing credentials, including secrets and certificates, for agents with privileged access.
  • Threat detection and response: Real-time behavioural monitoring to identify anomalies and prevent misuse.
  • Automated lifecycle management: Streamlining the onboarding and offboarding process for AI agents to eliminate stale access.
  • Governance: Ensuring compliance with organisational and regulatory standards.

As organisations continue to innovate and integrate AI agents into their workflows, the CyberArk Secure AI Agents Solution aims to provide the necessary security framework to protect these evolving digital identities.
