Cohesity Maestro is an architecture that makes its data security platform natively accessible through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This decouples the company’s data protection capabilities from its own interface, allowing customers to command them via the AI platforms they have already adopted .
Cohesity Maestro allows IT and security operations teams to query business-critical risks and recovery gaps, trigger restores, and orchestrate recovery directly from their chosen AI tools .
Open design for the Agentic era
Built on the open MCP standard, Maestro integrates with AI platforms including Anthropic Claude, OpenAI ChatGPT, and Google Gemini without proprietary connectors .
Unlike some competitors that have developed walled gardens for their agentic experiences, Cohesity is positioning its architecture as open by design, giving customers flexibility over their AI stack .
The company has drawn a parallel to the headless enterprise software pioneered by Salesforce, arguing that data security is undergoing the same architectural shift .

"Our customers have already chosen," said Sanjay Poonen, CEO of Cohesity. "Claude, Gemini, and GPT already run operations on these platforms, which grow in capability every day. Cohesity Maestro gives those platforms direct access to our data protection capabilities. No new console. No workflow changes. Just the power of Cohesity, wherever their AI already lives ."
Poonen emphasised that this represents a fundamental shift: "This is what headless data protection looks like, and Cohesity is the first in our industry to deliver it ."
Capabilities and foundation
With Cohesity Maestro, customers gain native access to several platform capabilities, including cyber resilience orchestration for protection, restores, and threat hunting; real-time telemetry and threat signals that can be surfaced into any AI workflow; and access to Cohesity Gaia, the company's AI-powered enterprise search engine .
This architecture follows Cohesity’s existing developments: Cohesity Copilot, launched in 2024, introduced natural-language administration; and Cohesity RecoveryAgent, launched in 2025, delivered intelligent cyber recovery .
The company notes that Cohesity Maestro is governed by the same role-based access controls, authentication, and audit framework that apply to direct platform access, ensuring that security teams retain oversight even as capabilities are deployed through external AI agents .
Future roadmap
Cohesity Copilot and RecoveryAgent are now available, with Cohesity Gaia support for MCP also live . The broader Cohesity Maestro MCP interface and additional agents are expected to be available later this year .
The company said Cohesity Maestro lays the foundation for a model of autonomous business resilience in which an AI agent can detect an issue, decide on a response, and act without human instruction .
