Cohesity has announced that it is the first data protection provider to receive Nutanix Database Service (NDB) database protection Nutanix Ready validation. This designation indicates that Cohesity's solution has successfully undergone a series of interoperability validations with NDB, a leading database lifecycle management platform designed for building database-as-a-service solutions in hybrid multicloud environments.

The NDB platform enables enterprises to deploy, clone, manage, and scale databases efficiently while ensuring security, performance, and compliance. With this validation, Cohesity DataProtect integrates seamlessly with NDB's native time machine capabilities, streamlining the protection of PostgreSQL databases through a unified control plane. This integration aims to enhance resilience for large enterprises facing increasing cyber threats.

A recent report from Cohesity highlighted a troubling trend, revealing that 67% of global organisations experienced a cyber attack in the past year, with the threat landscape continuing to evolve. By collaborating with Nutanix, Cohesity seeks to provide organisations with new tools to manage and protect critical database operations, thereby bolstering their overall cyber resilience strategies.

Vasu Murthy, chief product officer at Cohesity, noted the significant impact of data loss and downtime on organisations, particularly those in critical sectors such as banking and financial services. “Every second of downtime and byte of data lost has an associated dollar and reputational cost,” he stated. Murthy emphasised the importance of solutions that safeguard data, minimise downtime, and enable rapid recovery of critical services.

As organisations contend with an increasing number of cyber attacks, there is a growing demand for comprehensive solutions that enhance cyber resilience while adhering to data protection strategies, such as the widely recognised 3-2-1 backup rule. As a Nutanix Ready partner, Cohesity offers customers modern protection for their AHV environments, facilitating straightforward backup and quick recovery while integrating cybersecurity measures to guard against ransomware attacks.

The integration of Cohesity DataProtect with NDB’s time machine capabilities provides customers with robust protection against both routine application errors and more severe incidents, including site failures and malicious attacks. Key benefits of this enhanced integration include:

  • Enhanced security: The solution features multilayered cyber resilience and ransomware protection, ensuring that data objects are safeguarded against overwrites and deletions for a specified duration. The architecture is designed to be highly resilient and fault-tolerant, employing AES-256 and FIPS-compliant encryption to protect data both in transit and at rest.
  • Cost efficiency: Advanced deduplication and compression techniques optimise storage usage and reduce data footprints, contributing to overall cost savings.
  • Improved speed and simplicity: The scale-out architecture enhances backup and restore times, allowing organisations to meet growing business demands. Cohesity’s single-pane-of-glass interface simplifies management and definition of backup strategies.
