Forcepoint has launched AI Data Security, a cloud platform designed to give enterprises greater oversight and protection as autonomous agents, sanctioned AI tools and shadow AI increasingly handle sensitive information.
The vendor said the platform marks a new category in data security by following sensitive data across every AI interaction, rather than treating AI governance and data protection as separate problems.
The launch comes as organisations struggle to secure the information feeding AI initiatives. Forcepoint cited external research showing that 79% of organisations say they are having difficulty securing the information behind AI projects, underlining the scale of the governance challenge as adoption accelerates.
Forcepoint said the new platform extends protection from the data layer up, covering structured and unstructured data across on-premises and cloud environments. It aims to identify where sensitive information lives, track where AI risk emerges and bind policy to the data itself, enforcing controls through prompts, agents and integrations across channels.
The platform adds several capabilities aimed at closing common AI security gaps. These include visibility and governance for every agent in use, an AI Agent Gateway to enforce least-privileged access, real-time prompt and response control, data loss prevention for AI, confidential file protection, shadow AI blocking, and detection of personal versus corporate account use.
Forcepoint said the offering also includes AI Detection and Response, its ARIA assistant for natural-language policy creation, and single-console oversight through Forcepoint Insights.
The company said these functions are intended to simplify policy management, reduce blind spots and give boards, regulators and customers clearer evidence that data is being protected as AI use expands.
Roland Cloutier, strategic security advisor and former chief security officer at TikTok, ADP and EMC, said the core challenge is ensuring sensitive data stays protected once employees place it into AI, whether sanctioned or not. He said Forcepoint’s approach goes beyond visibility to enforcement that follows the data itself, which is what auditors and boards require.
The wider industry signal is clear: security teams are moving from simply monitoring AI use to actively controlling it. Forcepoint said the platform is already available, with AI Detection and Response (AIDR), the agentic AI gateway and shadow AI controls rolling out over the next quarter for existing and new customers.
