A new report from Aryaka, The State of Network Security in Transportation & Logistics, reveals that the transportation and logistics industry faces unique networking and security challenges due to rapid IT transformation and increasing supply chain complexity.

The survey of senior executives highlights a growing need for simplified, secure, and visible network infrastructure to support hybrid environments and AI adoption.
The report identifies cybersecurity threats as the top daily challenge, with 81% of organisations struggling to stay ahead of them. Ransomware and malware are major concerns, affecting 77% of respondents.
This aligns with broader industry trends showing a rise in cyberattacks targeting the logistics sector. As supply chains become more connected and rely on cloud-enabled systems, the attack surface expands, creating new vulnerabilities.
Simplifying and lowering network costs is the top priority for 70% of transportation and logistics organisations. Enhancing network performance and security visibility (57%) and reducing the workload on IT teams (51%) are also key objectives.
However, only 28% have started implementing solutions to mitigate GenAI network and security challenges, indicating a lack of preparedness for emerging technologies.
The industry's reliance on hybrid IT infrastructure, with 74% using a mix of private data centres and cloud environments, adds complexity. As companies migrate legacy applications to the cloud, they face transitional challenges that require flexible and secure connectivity.
