Forescout Technologies has launched its innovative SaaS-based solution, Forescout for OT Security, aimed at safeguarding a variety of operational technology (OT), Internet of Things (IoT), and information technology (IT) environments. This comprehensive solution stands out for its capability to manage both managed and unmanaged devices across diverse deployment models, including fully cloud-based, air-gapped, and hybrid systems.
The new offering integrates crucial functionalities such as proactive security measures, advanced threat detection derived from Forescout's proprietary research at Vedere Labs, and essential operational monitoring. “The attack surface from connected assets, including unmanaged OT and IoT devices, is outpacing security teams’ ability to protect critical digital assets,” stated Barry Mainz, CEO of Forescout. He advocates for organisations to go beyond mere visibility, emphasising the necessity for actionable intelligence and control to prevent downtime and cyber incidents.
Forescout for OT Security aims to streamline operations by consolidating various use cases into a single platform, thereby reducing manual errors. Key features include tailored cybersecurity threat detection rules for hybrid environments, enhanced asset intelligence driven by AI, and contextual insights for effective incident response. The solution also offers role-specific dashboards catering to different stakeholders, from SOC analysts to executives.
Additionally, the platform focuses on actionable vulnerability prioritisation, leveraging Forescout’s Vedere Labs database—recognised as the industry's largest curated collection of actionable insights. This encompasses asset classification for over 18.7 million unique device profiles.
Mainz added, “We see an increasing number of customers looking for a comprehensive, enterprise-wide security strategy.” With this launch, Forescout is poised to deliver a unified solution that tackles the complexities of securing OT, IT, and IoT environments, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing cybersecurity across diverse operational landscapes.
