A Vanson Bourne study commissioned by Barracuda Networks reveals that managed service providers (MSPs) have become essential partners for businesses in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region aiming for secure growth.
The MSP Customer Insight Report 2025 highlights that 85% of organisations (global survey) with 1,000 to 2,000 employees now depend on MSPs for security support, signalling a significant shift in reliance on these providers.
The survey, which encompassed 2,000 IT and security decision-makers across the Americas, Europe, and APAC, underscores the growing need for MSP expertise in navigating complex cybersecurity landscapes. Notably, 73% of respondents currently work with an MSP, and this figure rises to 96% when including those evaluating potential partnerships.
The findings indicate that MSPs are increasingly viewed as vital growth partners. Abut 52% of APAC organisations seek MSP assistance to manage an overwhelming number of disconnected security tools, while 51% look to MSPs to evolve their security strategies as they expand.
Additionally, 48% rely on MSPs for around-the-clock security coverage, highlighting their crucial role in modern cybersecurity.
Interestingly, the report shows that the traditional perception of MSPs as resources for small businesses is changing. While 61% of smaller companies (50 to 100 employees) utilise MSPs, 85% of larger APAC firms now depend on these providers for security support, illustrating a significant broadening of the MSP client base.
Over the next two years, demand for MSP expertise in areas such as AI and machine learning, as well as zero trust network security measures, is expected to rise. Furthermore, 92% of APAC organisations are willing to pay up to 25% more for advanced support, indicating a readiness to invest in robust security solutions.
However, client expectations are also high. Concerns regarding an MSP’s ability to effectively remediate and recover from cyberattacks remain paramount. In fact, 45% of customers would consider switching providers if their current MSP fails to demonstrate the necessary skills for delivering 24/7 security support.

"Most IT teams simply don’t have the time, budget, or expertise to manage the increasing complexity," said Mark Lukie, director of solution architects at Barracuda.
This suggests the critical role MSPs play in helping organisations navigate today’s multifaceted cybersecurity challenges.
