A recent report by the Enterprise Strategy Group indicated that many organisations struggle with their current recovery plans, often relying on outdated methods that do not adequately prepare them for real-world scenarios.
Key challenges identified included the inability to fully restore data, the complexity of recoverability testing, and the high costs associated with maintaining effective recovery processes.
Nathan McAfee, principal economic validation aat the Enterprise Strategy Group, noted that “many organisations have a significant gap between their cyber resilience needs and their capabilities to restore quickly after an attack.” The report shows that only 11% of organisations can reliably recover all their data, highlighting the urgent need for effective recovery strategies.
The report also emphasises the importance of integrating recovery solutions into existing IT environments. Many organisations reported that their previous methods were cumbersome and costly, with some spending up to $20 million on inadequate recovery environments.
Commissioned by Commvault, the report highlights the economic benefits of the vendor's Cleanroom Recovery and Cloud Rewind technologies, which aim to enhance organisations' cyber resilience.
Commvault’s offerings are designed to minimise this downtime, enabling businesses to achieve 99% faster recovery times and 94% quicker rebuilding of cloud infrastructure. Cleanroom Recovery allows organisations to validate their recovery strategies in an isolated cloud environment, while Cloud Rewind enables rapid restoration of cloud applications and data.
The findings underscore the necessity for organisations to adopt robust cyber recovery solutions.
