LifeTech Group has partnered with Kyndryl to establish the country's first in-country Security Operations Centre (SOC) on public cloud. This collaboration aims to enhance threat protection while ensuring that data remains within Malaysian borders, ultimately helping organisations reduce their cybersecurity costs by up to 40%.
The agreement positions LifeTech as a leader in managed cybersecurity services in Southeast Asia. With a history dating back to 1989, LifeTech has served a diverse range of sectors, including financial services, healthcare, government, and telecommunications. The new SOC is expected to bolster LifeTech’s capabilities, enabling enterprises to assess their cyber resilience, identify vulnerabilities, and comply with Bank Negara Malaysia's requirements for data residency.

Dato KK Loh, chairman and CEO of LifeTech Group, expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, “By transforming our Security Operations Center using a next-generation unified platform, we are empowering our customers to strengthen their cyber resilience and respond swiftly to threats.” This transformation comes at a crucial time, as the complexity of cyber threats continues to evolve.
The innovative SOC platform will utilise the Kyndryl Security Intelligence and Automation framework, enhancing detection, response, and operational efficiencies. Key initiatives of this partnership include the migration and integration of customer platforms for robust monitoring and analytics, which will facilitate rapid searches and investigations while reducing the need for extensive on-premises security infrastructure.
Moreover, the SOC will transition from basic security operations to advanced capabilities, including proactive risk mitigation planning and continuous improvement. By adopting a full lifecycle approach, the SOC will address cyber threats through optimised services in risk assessment, compliance, and threat visibility.
Another critical aspect of the collaboration is the implementation of Zero Trust Services, which will safeguard essential business assets through enhanced identity, endpoint, and cloud security solutions. This approach aligns with global security trends, focusing on minimising risks across IT environments.

Kyndryl Malaysia's managing director, Effendi Azmi Hashim, highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, “The collaboration emphasises the adoption of innovative global security standards and state-of-the-art security platforms.” This partnership aims to provide a security-rich infrastructure that empowers LifeTech to deliver proactive and robust security operations.
As Malaysia continues to navigate an increasingly complex cybersecurity landscape, this SOC transformation marks a pivotal step forward, promising to enhance the resilience of Malaysian enterprises against the backdrop of rising cyber threats.
