Recent findings from Exabeam's study, “From Human to Hybrid: How AI and the Analytics Gap are Fueling Insider Risk,” reveal that a staggering 93% of organisations have either experienced or expect an increase in insider threats driven by AI.
An alarming 64% of respondents view these insider threats as a greater concern than external actors. As AI agents autonomously perform tasks, access sensitive data, and make independent decisions, they introduce a new class of insider risk that operates outside the realm of conventional monitoring.
Traditional Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Extended Detection and Response (XDR) solutions often lack the intelligence necessary to baseline and learn normal behaviour patterns, making it difficult to spot rogue agent activity. By extending its behavioural analytics capabilities to encompass both human and AI agent actions, Exabeam is addressing this vital gap.
“Security operations teams don’t need another tool—they need deeper insight into both human and AI agent behaviour,” said Steve Wilson, chief AI and product officer at Exabeam.
Exabeam Nova, the company’s latest innovation, serves as the intelligence layer that enables security teams to interpret and act on agent behaviour with confidence. By delivering explainable, prioritised threat insights, Exabeam Nova allows analysts to move beyond superficial alerts and understand the context of agent actions.
Chris O’Malley, CEO of Exabeam, emphasised the urgency of adapting to the evolving landscape: “AI agents are quickly changing how business gets done, and that means security must evolve at the same rate.”
Exabeam has announced the integration of Google Agentspace and Google Cloud’s Model Armor telemetry into its New-Scale Security Operations Platform. This advancement allows security teams to gain unprecedented visibility into the behaviour of AI agents, enabling them to detect intent, drift, and potential compromises—areas where traditional security tools often fall short.
The integration of AI into core business operations presents new security challenges, making the partnership between Exabeam and Google Cloud crucial for providing advanced tools to protect data and maintain control.
Vineet Bhan, director of security and identity partnerships at Google Cloud, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of equipping organisations with the tools necessary to innovate confidently in an AI-driven world. By unifying visibility across human and AI-driven activities, Exabeam empowers security teams to detect, assess, and respond to insider threats in all their forms, setting a new benchmark for enterprise security.
