ESET adds AI security controls to PROTECT platform

ESET is expanding its business cybersecurity portfolio with a new AI Security module for the ESET PROTECT Platform, as organisations adopt autonomous agents, coding assistants and AI-enabled workflows.

The update introduces AI Agent Security and AI Behavioral Monitoring. The capabilities are designed to help businesses address risks arising from malicious AI components and suspicious activity by autonomous AI agents.

AI Agent Security provides a dedicated layer of protection for organisations using autonomous agents. It extends security controls into the AI agent ecosystem, where agents may interact with files, repositories, external services and other components.

AI Behavioral Monitoring continuously tracks the activity of autonomous agents, identifying and flagging actions that could indicate suspicious behaviour.

The launch comes as AI adoption expands the attack surface facing businesses. ESET’s 2026 Singapore Enterprise Cybersecurity Report found that 79% of organisations in the country had experienced at least one AI-related cyber threat during the previous 12 months. The report also found that 97% of organisations were using or piloting AI.

ESET researchers have identified AI-enabled threats including PromptLock, described by the company as an AI-written ransomware strain, and PromptSpy, an Android threat using generative AI. The company has also reported detecting thousands of malicious agentic AI skills.

“AI is transforming the way businesses operate, innovate and grow, but it is also reshaping the cybersecurity landscape at an extraordinary pace,” said Parvinder Walia, president of the APAC region at ESET.

“Across APAC, organisations are increasingly looking for security that can keep pace with this change while giving them the confidence to embrace new technologies,” he added. “Cybersecurity is not only about responding to threats; it is about enabling progress securely.”

Alongside the new AI Security module, ESET is strengthening its core AI capabilities. ESET LiveCortex, included in the ESET PROTECT Platform, is a cross-perimeter correlation and response engine intended to connect security signals and support incident response.

ESET AI Advisor is also being renamed ESET LiveAI. The company said the revised name reflects its position within the core product portfolio and its expanded capability to provide live incident-remediation context. ESET’s PROTECT version 7.3 release notes list LiveAI among the platform updates released on 1 October.

The company said its AI development programme is supported by an additional €40 million investment in 2026. The investment is intended to strengthen security-first AI foundations developed specifically for cybersecurity.

The announcement reflects a broader shift in enterprise security priorities. As AI systems gain access to business data and carry out tasks with greater autonomy, security teams must assess not only the tools being used but also the components they access and the actions they perform.

ESET’s updated portfolio aims to give organisations greater visibility over that emerging AI ecosystem while supporting continued adoption of AI-driven productivity tools.
