Tenable announced significant upgrades to its Security Centre, its on-premises vulnerability management solution. This enhancement introduces new capabilities for vulnerability intelligence, risk prioritisation, and web application scanning, designed to empower organisations with a more robust security posture.
The core function of Tenable Security Center revolves around identifying, investigating, and prioritising vulnerabilities. By incorporating Tenable Vulnerability Intelligence, the platform now offers contextualised vulnerability data, allowing organisations to effectively discover and mitigate critical weaknesses. This curated database enhances visibility and provides essential threat context, streamlining the process of closing significant risks.
Shai Morag, Tenable’s chief product officer, pointed out the limitations of traditional on-premise vulnerability management tools, which often leave organisations unaware of their vulnerabilities. He highlighted that Tenable is committed to supporting organisations that prefer managing their data on-premises while equipping them with advanced tools that broaden visibility and improve risk prioritisation.
Among the key new features is the Threat Landscape Overview, which categorises threats based on their relevance, including Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) currently exploited in the wild or associated with ransomware campaigns. This function enables users to quickly access details about vulnerabilities and their affected assets, facilitating proactive risk management.
Additionally, the introduction of Natural Language and Advanced Search capabilities allows teams to locate specific CVEs easily. Users can build complex queries based on various criteria, such as Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) metrics, enhancing the efficiency of vulnerability assessments.
The expanded web application scanning feature now supports thousands of web applications and fully qualified domain names (FQDN) within a single Security Center console. This capability simplifies management, reduces hardware needs, and accelerates scanning processes.
Also, the integration of CVSSv4 and EPSS prioritisation models enables organisations to effectively allocate resources by assessing vulnerabilities based on real-world risk. With these enhancements, Tenable Security Center solidifies its position as an indispensable tool for organisations striving to strengthen their vulnerability management programmes.
