In response to the alarming increase in application security attacks, KnowBe4 has announced a strategic partnership with Security Journey to promote secure coding practices within software development. This initiative comes as application security has emerged as a critical concern, with a staggering eight out of the ten largest data breaches in 2023 attributed to vulnerabilities in application attack surfaces.
KnowBe4 aims to enhance the skills and awareness of developers through comprehensive secure coding training provided by Security Journey. This collaboration will offer engaging, role-based learning paths and practical exercises designed to equip development teams with the necessary tools to proactively identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities throughout the software development lifecycle.
Roger Grimes, a data-driven defense evangelist at KnowBe4, highlighted a significant gap in current practices, stating that secure coding is not a mandatory requirement for software developers. He emphasised that prioritising secure software development could significantly reduce the need for costly patches that disrupt business operations and complicate functionality. By partnering with Security Journey, KnowBe4 seeks to foster a culture of compliance and security within organisations, ultimately addressing the human factors contributing to cybersecurity risk.
The partnership will introduce a total of 37 new training modules, specifically available to KnowBe4’s diamond-level customers, further enhancing their cybersecurity posture.
As cyber threats continue to escalate, the importance of secure coding practices cannot be overstated. By equipping developers with the knowledge and skills to create secure software from the outset, KnowBe4 and Security Journey are taking significant steps to fortify organisations against the growing landscape of cyber risks. This proactive approach is essential in safeguarding sensitive data and maintaining trust in an increasingly digital world.
