Netskope has recently announced significant advancements to its NewEdge infrastructure, which underpins the Netskope One platform, enhancing its capabilities in modern security and networking. This expansion aims to provide unmatched security and performance, addressing the growing demands of businesses for reliable and resilient solutions.

Key developments in NewEdge

  1. Expanded Infrastructure: Netskope has increased its NewEdge private cloud footprint, adding new data centres in cities such as Calgary, Helsinki, Lisbon, and Prague. This brings the total to over 75 NewEdge regions globally, each equipped with full compute capabilities and offering a comprehensive range of Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) functionalities, including Cloud Firewall and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA).
  2. Global Coverage: The NewEdge infrastructure now surpasses coverage for 220 countries and territories, supported by more than 200 NewEdge Localization Zones. This ensures a local direct-to-net digital experience for users, regardless of their location.
  3. Enhanced Connectivity: With nearly 5,000 network adjacencies to over 750 unique Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs), Netskope is optimising latency and improving user experience across the network.
  4. Real-Time Monitoring: The newly updated Netskope Trust Portal provides real-time visibility into the state of the Netskope cloud, accessible to anyone, not just customers. This transparency is crucial for maintaining trust and operational efficiency.
  5. Advanced Digital Experience Management (DEM): Netskope is pushing the boundaries of DEM by integrating AI and machine learning to automate network diagnostics and enhance user experience. Features such as automated network diagnostics and AI-powered User Experience Root Cause Analysis (RCA) are designed to minimise downtime and improve incident management.

According to Pete Finalle, IDC research manager, the architecture of security and networking services is foundational to achieving effective outcomes. He emphasises that it is not enough to have the right tools; the underlying infrastructure must support both security efficacy and network performance.

FOr his part, Netskope chief platform officer, Joe DePalo adds that with NewEdge, customers can expect carrier-grade network performance without sacrificing security, providing a user experience that rivals direct-to-net solutions.
