F5 has unveiled NGINX One – a comprehensive solution designed to enhance the security and performance of modern applications and APIs. This new offering integrates advanced load balancing, web and application server capabilities, API gateway functionalities, and security features into a single package, simplifying management for development, operations, and platform teams.
The NGINX One solution allows users to manage both F5 NGINX instances and NGINX Open Source from a unified cloud management interface. This development is expected to facilitate faster application deployment and improve visibility across diverse environments, including data centers, cloud, and edge locations. “Successful application deployment is a team sport,” stated Shawn Wormke, vice president and general manager for NGINX at F5, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among the various teams involved in application delivery and security.
Organizations often face challenges in delivering applications across multifaceted infrastructures, from bare metal servers to Kubernetes clusters. The complexity of maintaining consistent security and compliance policies in hybrid and multi-cloud environments adds to the operational hurdles. NGINX One addresses these issues by enabling teams to optimize and govern NGINX components more effectively, providing central oversight for security policies, configuration guidance, and automated updates to support compliance across the application ecosystem.
Jim Mercer, IDC program vice president, remarked that “NGINX One is essentially designed to make it easier to harmonize these workflows,” highlighting its transformation of NGINX from a development tool to a robust enterprise-class solution. By offering unified visibility across the NGINX landscape, the platform minimizes reliance on multiple point solutions, allowing organizations to monitor performance and security comprehensively.
With NGINX One, organizations can achieve centralized management of traffic optimization, security, and scalability, streamlining application delivery processes. As applications grow more complex, this solution facilitates rapid innovation without compromising security. Vinnie Chhabra, an IT engineer at Medallia, noted, “NGINX One is giving us visibility into our NGINX Plus instances and has helped identify system vulnerabilities,” underscoring the potential of NGINX One to enhance operational efficiency and security in application deployments.
