According to the “Inside the Mind of a CISO” report by Bugcrowd, the majority (91%) of security leaders believe that artificial intelligence (AI) already performs better than security professionals or at least will soon. The report showed that 70% plan to reduce the security team over the next five years due to adopting AI technologies. However, 58% believe that the risks of AI are worse than its potential benefits.

Risk of being breached

Around 33% believed that at least half of companies are willing to sacrifice their customers’ long-term privacy or security to save money, and 40% felt that less than 1 in 3 companies understood their risk of being breached.

Cybersecurity staffing

Further, some 87% reported hiring security staff, and 56% stated that their security team was currently understaffed. The report also revealed that only 6% of cybersecurity leaders don’t have a college degree, and over 80% have a degree specifically in cybersecurity.

Nick McKenzie

Nick McKenzie, CISO at Bugcrowd, said, “As the cybersecurity landscape continues to evolve, professionals and organizations must remain ready to adapt to the latest trends and emerging technologies such as AI and the implementation of crowdsourced cybersecurity.”
